The National Bank of Rwanda is the regulator and supervisor of the Microfinance sector in Rwanda. To ensure a sound and stable Microfinance Sector, The Central Bank adopted strong regulatory framework taking into account principles set forth by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to promote prudent management of microfinance institutions and ensuring protection for depositors’ interests. The Legal and regulatory framework embedded in this section is therefore designed to ensure that Microfinance Institutions adhere to prudential norms and robust protection of depositors.
